craft nation?

once again, my lack of consistent blogging has left me with an assortment of possible topics today. today has been a relatively lazy day- well... i won't be bashful- it's been a down right lazy day. which is okay, because in the last 5 weeks i have managed to make two trips to LA, run a half marathon, and cap it off with a trip to Boston and Rhode Island. so a lazy day is in order.

Thanksgiving and Christmas (yes, consumer nation, that is the correct order) are quickly approaching and all of these gifts are currently in the making:

3 of these are currently in production:

just like molasses....

funny how the last post still rings true today.... will articulation forever be hard for me? or maybe i will just continue to choose to blog on days where it is as such. people who know me- refer to me as... "oh yeah, alice. she's a firecracker, shoot from the hip kind of girl." not today my friend. i'd be the lady buzzing in 10 seconds too late, fumbling over my words. i feel eerily similar to being stuck in a game of taboo.... pausing after every word making sure i didn't say something to set the buzzer off.

but as i type that sentence, i find articulation isn't all that hard for me. the truth of the matter: i am articulate! the problem: allowing the words in my brain full range on paper. does this mean that i actually have a filter...? oh boy, that's a new concept for me. nah!

i realize now more than ever, that given time, the words will roll off my tongue. my pen will hit the paper with ease expressing my thoughts clearly. but time is key. and hopefully when that day comes, i'm prepared for the results- whatever they may be. so i'll keep sorting through my thoughts and lining my words up nice and neat until the day of articulation comes.

P90X day 31 doesn't aide my typing skills either at the moment-

until then... know that i love you. that i can, in fact, articulate.

articulation is hard for me today...

maybe not the best day to blog... so prepare yourself.. this is probably going to get out of hand really quick. so much has gone on in the past few months, that I (the one living this life) can't even keep the days straight.

trying my best to articulate this- it truly feels like we've been here for a year when i can pull together memories of this time 365 days ago... i know i've lived in this state for over a year.. but only until last week did this place feel like home. and as i type that sentence, i'm not sure how it makes me feel. funny how things like football, bonfires, and a touch of whiskey bring people together. those people that crammed my week with laughing and stories i still can't get out of my head- are hitting the road again and i miss them. thank you skype... we'll be putting you to use.

only a hand full of people know that my homesick nature comes in waves... and i'd like to keep it that way. so in order to do that and to keep myself from impulsivly buying a plane ticket to louisiana... i'm out for the day.

a few pics from the last few "months".... i think..?

projects

just a quick update on a few summer projects... ones completed, ones current, and ones i aspire to complete sometime in the next (insert date here)... we had these old chairs which served no purpose, unless you count collecting dust bunnies...

just sanded 'em down, put on 3 coats of outdoor "nothing but lime" paint.. and taada!

i found this quaint little table on the side of the road and it works perfectly. glad i didn't splurge on the $300 furniture i had my eye on.also found this fabric on my most recent trip to ikea in cincinatti. made 3 frames out of 1x2x8's. still have one more to go.. but shouldn't take me long.

did splurged on some new running shoes... thought you guys might want to check 'em out...

enjoy and know that i love you...still.

pythagorean what..?

i've been reading and scribing for some kids on the state wide test here in ky. it's really hard for me to sit there and mark the wrong answer or write a bunch of rambling that is completely off topic. i just want to help him. say... "whoa dude.. don't you remember in math class using the pythagorean theorem? now would be the time to use it." but i can't. i just watch.

then as he looks at me with snot in his hair, a rotten tooth, and sun-burned skin peeling... and i realize there is a list of other things we should be working on.

on a side note two people that annoy me today: Brett Farve and John Wall. i'm over both of you guys!

home again, home again...

Gosh... this nasty weather has me missing LA more than ever. But I have been doing somethings on my snow days off that remind me why I love that muggy, humid state.

Here are a few....
and finally... eating chili with RICE. It is such a foreign concept for people up here.

ok.. i know...

I gotta get better at this blogging thing. But I decided to shed the gloves for a few minutes, break down, and just blog.

*SNOW DAY TOMORROW. I've been debating... I think the sheer disappointment of waking up, checking the weather, and realizing that school isn't canceled... far out ways the excitement of have a good ol' fashion snow day. Clearly this is still in debate, because I almost wet myself when I heard school was canceled tomorrow.

I've never appreciated the U.S. Postal service as much as I do now, living 844 miles away from home. Quick list of things that have been shipped....

1. socks and shirts that wouldn't fit in my carry on bag back to ky.
2. books that my parents think i will enjoy
3. tim's high school diploma that Mrs. Jean found when she was moving
4. my cellphone
5. car not payment each month to my dad
and last but not least.....

6. CORNHOLE! well hopefully. long story short. when home for christmas, I got the great idea to make Tim a set of cornhole. My dad had all the tools so we got after it. Then realized that shipping would cost.... well END OF STORY.

I do not claim any spelling errors from now on... the gloves had to go back on. It's cold here!

Quick picture update from Christmas:
